Instructional Staff
The Pinnacle Leadership staff has over 40 years of combined experience in student leadership instruction. Their fresh, enthusiastic and entertaining approach to education will provide a positive experience for students that will help motivate them to assist in their band program. The staff has worked together over many years to mold the conference into an amazing opportunity for student leaders. The Pinnacle Leadership staff prides itself on its integrity, quality instruction, and caring attitude towards students.
Bill Humbert received his Bachelor and Master of Music in Education degrees from Arizona State University, and is currently the Director of Bands at Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona. His duties at the college include serving as the director of the concert band program, coordinating and teaching the instrumental music education program, as well as, teaching courses in conducting and music theory. Under his direction, the band program at GCC has doubled in size over the last five years. Prior to his appointment at the college, Mr. Humbert was the Director of Bands at Chandler High School in Chandler, Arizona, where his bands consistently received top musical honors throughout Arizona and the Southwestern United States. These awards include 13 straight years of Superior with Distinction Ratings at area and state marching band and concert band festivals, performances as the select honors group at the 1991, 1994, and 1999 Arizona Music Educator’s State Convention, participation in the Fiesta Bowl Parade, and performances at Pearl Harbor and The Arizona Memorial in Hawaii.
Mr. Humbert also has served in many leadership positions throughout the state, including: Vice President of High School Activities for the Arizona Band and Orchestra Director’s Association (ABODA) Secretary of ABODA, State Music Festival Coordinator, State Marching Band Festival Chairman for 10 years, and currently serves on the State Festival Adjudication Committee. Mr. Humbert was honored as a recipient of the American School Band Director’s Association Distinguished Band Director’s Award, as well as, the recipient of the George C. Wilson Leadership Service Award from the Arizona Music Educator’s Association.
In addition to his duties at Glendale Community College, Mr. Humbert is active as a clinician and adjudicator in the areas of marching band and concert band. He is the Director of the Arizona Leadership Conference, a summer leadership program for high school students, coordinates student leadership workshops and Drum Major training at the University of Oregon Summer Music Camps, teaches student leadership classes at Northern Arizona University, and is the director of Pinnacle Leadership, which provides student leadership and motivational workshops throughout the western states for high school and junior high school students.
